Tomorrow, Kindergarten. Farewell, babyhood, farewell.
We've visited each babyhood haunt, we've hugged and kissed and looked deeply at them, willing our minds to embed their moments into unfading memory, we've had our favorite meals and treats, we've read our favorite books.
They've already left most of babyhood, of course, yet as they step through the double doors tomorrow, it's the ceremonial step into a new world.
Farewell, babyhood, farewell.
We will hug you and kiss you and guide you and help you learn responsibility and the Golden Rule that is the essence of all good living. We will learn to let you fly on your own, bit by bit.
Oh, it's so hard to begin letting go!
